With the spirit of how to make money online I have decided to provide something special in this article… Instead of talking about programs like project payday or Me2Everyone, I want to discuss something far more important. What are Backlinks?

Anchor text links are things that point to various websites and tell Google that your site is important. Newsflash, they are only valuable on sites that offer Do-Follow (what that means is that the site has to remove the standard NoFollow link typical on Wordpress blogs…)

I have read a million articles about search engine optimization and professional internet marketers giving advice about how to get to the top of Google’s precious search engine ranking place index… What I have realized is that its not as much about what you write (although you do want to incorporate your target keywords into your article titles, headers, body and everywhere else you can think of…)

It is about who you know and more importantly, who is linking back to you using your targeted anchor text which in my case would be how to make money online.

I’ve written a million articles and until I started collecting valuable anchor text backlinks I really wasn’t able to generate much traffic. Now that the backlinks are coming in left and right my site is ballooning and putting me in a position where I can negotiate regarding link exchanges, advertising inquiries etc..

What is DoFollow?

DoFollow is basically internet code (the language of geeks), it is in reality the absence of dreaded NoFollow commands in a website or webpage’s html or php script… I’m sorry to bore you with techno babble, basically you are looking for as much DoFollow link luv as possible if you want to get to the top of Google and make money online!

That is a great question and also my gift to you if you have happened to make it this far and don’t have a splitting headache yet…

Keep in mind that these do follow resources are not to be abused and are offered as a supplement to other do follow resources you will find at your fingertips…

Try not to spam these generous do-follow blogs that have so willingly offered you the ability to increase your page rank and search engine rankings for your target keywords.

Have you ever wanted to read a StatCounter review? Well, your dream just came true! There are many tools that an internet marketer uses in their mission to make money online. When you are just starting out one of the major questions you may end up asking yourself is: How do I track my website’s statistics?

Recently, I noticed a few hits for keywords that I wasn’t really trying to target… When I researched this in more detail, I found out that the traffic was coming from search engine ranking places that were far from the first and second pages of results.

I was able to determine that there was a huge demand for this product and steadily I have been squeezing in keywords that are helping me rank better for the product in the hopes that someday I will reach the first page where the traffic maelstrom awaits.

The point is that if I wasn’t paying attention to my statistics, that keyword could have completely slipped under the radar and I would have never known about my new and very profitable source of additional traffic.

How Many Different Ways Are There to Make Money With A Blog?

I want to apologize to the few people I’ve managed to pick up as subscribers this month for implementing so many monetization strategies at once. If you're tired of the make money online topic, I don't blame ya... The reason I have done this is not out of spite or adverse intent but rather in scientific experimentation. It's time to test the waters so to speak!

This blog is dedicated to teaching Blog Basics for Beginners but I will admit that sometimes I fall off track with other money making tactics. In the future I will try my best to write content and provide information that assists bloggers and webmasters in their goal to make money online via internet marketing and blogging.

Be aware that I will explore other avenues of making money online for the simple fact that eventually this site will receive targeted traffic for people looking to make money online, work from home, get paid for their opinions and intent of that nature.

It seems only fair to provide information to those people that can assist them in their goal as well. Not everyone has a talent for writing, some people would much rather sit around and complete surveys or tutor people via the web or watch advertisements for money.

To get back on track, there are a few things I had originally intended to discuss in this topic. Some of the current monetization strategies I am implementing on this page include:

In regard to helping bloggers make money online, some basic questions to ask yourself, that I have found helpful when starting a new niche site include :

What do I want to write about?

What type of traffic would I like to receive?

How do I want to accommodate my visitors?

Is this site going to be strictly for monetary purposes or will I be using it as a hobby and writing about a topic I’m generally interested?

How will I plan to promote my blog or website?
Generally, if you write about things that interest you, I think that you will find that there is much more to say. Even though this site will address how to make money online, I also plan on touching on topics directly relating to blogging, internet marketing, search engine optimization, page rank, ways to get paid for your opinions etc…

If you write about something you love, why not earn money online while you’re at it? As long as we keep our readers best interest in mind, its alright to make a buck or two as a result. Generally, I think you will find that your readers don’t mind helping you out from time to time.

In regard to Google Adsense text links, hopefully your readers will be courteous and not click on things unless they have a true interest in the product or service offered. If they click on ads simply to help you out, Google will penalize you by possibly smart pricing your account. If you’re not familiar with the term smart pricing, that is when Google pays you a fraction of what you typically earn for an ad in an effort to provide the highest quality service for their advertisers.

Think about it, if you were an advertiser, would you really want to pay people for having their friends or loyal readers click on your ads for the sole purpose of making you money. Well, that’s how they feel also. Besides, ideally most of your traffic should come from search engines and it will as long as you focus on the basics of internet marketing like search engine optimization, backlink generation and fresh content. If you write quality articles directed towards your niche, there is a snowball effect that will take place, you will see that your target keywords will move steadily up in the search engine rankings and before you know it you will make money online.

If you’re not concerned with how to make money online and your just blogging for the sake of blogging that may work out even better. There are other benefits to having your own website or blog.

There are a million articles on this topic but the unfortunate reality is that it’s very hard to sift through the bull and find survey companies that actually pay up!

3.) The Age of Inbound Links

This seems to be a valid possibility. Research has shown that if you don’t have enough quality inbound links within a year you may never make it out of the Google Sandbox.

I believe the third factor would have the most importance in regard to getting out of the sandbox. Try to create as much niche related fresh content as possible every week. Start building links everyday to strengthen your target keywords. Before you know it Google will not be able to deny your authority on a subject.

As long as you are in the sandbox you will never truly enjoy the benefits that come with a high search engine ranking. Also, don’t forget to have some fun while you’re playing in the sandbox!

Internet marketing can be a very effective way to make money online. The truth of the matter is that no matter how much marketing you do, if you don’t focus on SEO, you will be reliant on paid visitors from Google Adwords or another PPC advertiser as your primary source of traffic.

What could be better than paid traffic? I think we both know the answer to that one…

At the end of the top if you don’t like spending hundreds and thousands of dollars annually on paid traffic and you’re not at the top of the SERP’s i.e. Search Engine Results Pages, you’re not going to be happy.

Internet marketing revolves around the numbers, variables that you want to consider include:

1.) Unique Visitors
2.) Organic Traffic
3.) Paid Traffic
4.) Conversion Rate

If you have a great conversion rate, maybe you don’t feel like natural traffic is worth the effort. Let’s say you spend $20 on a Google Adwords campaign and you make $25 in affiliate commissions from the resulting traffic… Obviously it’s turning a profit so you may as well keep doing it right?

Imagine if you added natural traffic into the mix as well, then you may be spending the same amount of money and making twice as much in commissions.

There are limitations to PPC campaigns; you need to bid on a particular keyword. It’s much better to diversify and obtain traffic from multiple sources, that way if one of your channels fizzles out you won’t have to fizzle out with it.

The two areas you will want to focus on are on-page search engine optimization and target keyword backlinks.

If you’re page is optimized better than your competitor’s for a targeted keyword and you have a higher quantity of authority niche related backlinks you will be able to beat them out on the SERP’s, it’s that easy…

Oh, yah, I just remembered it’s not that easy... That’s why you’re still here right?

What are the two types of backlinks you can obtain?

1.) Two Way Backlinks

This is a link that connects from your site to another site. They link back to your site creating a two way link relationship. These can generally be obtained in link exchanges and through networking contacts. A word of advice… These are hardly worth anything as they are not given much weight in terms of Google authority. They’ve got weak link juice, got it??

2.) One Way Backlinks

This is a link that simply links from one website to another. Google considers this type of link to be a lot more important because of the law of self interest. Obviously the site linking to you considers you an appropriate reference and decided to give you credit out of the kindness of their heart.

Not really, but you get the point… Not all one way links are created equal. Some of them can be actually bad for you depending on their page rank and authority position. There are sites called link farms that you should stay away from at all costs, Google’s system is extremely advance and can recognize foul play.

Generally if you do participate in this type of behavior, Google will just ignore the links but in a worst case scenario you may actually take a hit in your rankings because of it.

All of this linking is valuable only if you know how to leverage the links themselves.

This is where the term Anchor Text comes into play. You will see major improvements in your SEO if your backlinks are contained in your target keywords.

The best type of one way link will be one from a reputable website i.e. government or otherwise discussing a topic that is in direct relation to your niche. The link will be contained in a paragraph using your target keyword. That would have some major link juice!

Internet marketers tend to focus on subjects that will help them make money online like search engine optimization, affiliate reviews, and marketing techniques. They are focused on making money plain and simple.

There are generally two types of links:

1 Way Links
2 Way Links (These are sometimes referred to as Reciprocal Links)

Most people seem to think that they will have to pay for high quality one way links.

Why would I want to pay for a one way link?

Well, if the link is made using one of your targeted keywords and it is on a site that Google deems worthy of a high page rank index, you will have instant credibility! The more credibility you establish, the higher your page rank will be.

How can I get free one way links?

Now that is a great question! There are tons of places where you can get high quality one way links. One of the most common places that people obtain free one way links are in website and blog directories.

Directory submissions can be incredibly time consuming. But there are a few tricks you can implement to speed up the process. Keep in mind, the more one way links you have, the more resulting traffic you will receive and if your goal is to make money, this is what you need!

Tip # 1

Submit your blog to a directory ex. Open Directory Project, Search Sight etc…

Copy the entire submission i.e. website title, keywords, description into a notepad or document file.

Now you have a directory submission template that will work for future submissions saving you a ton of time!

Recently I came across a site called Associated Content. After doing my homework, the site seemed to be very legitimate, and also seems to have more potential when compared to PayPerPost. This article is dedicated to the review of Associated Content.

Anyways, the number of new contacts I made this week will drop your jaw.. I'm currently in the process of exchanging backlinks and I have gained new subscribers from surfing!

3.) Social Networking

Go make a profile on Technorati, Zimbio and StumbleUpon.. These are great sites that will help you immensely to gain readers and make new friends! Also, make sure to use PingOMatic to let all the social networking sites know that you have new content.

How To Make Money Blogging : 2 Different Approaches to Blogging

Blogging can be a very profitable business if you have the tools, dedication and knowledge to create and implement. There are several ways that people make money online with blogs and several different types of blogs that they make money with.

The following article will discuss two different approaches to blogging. Both of them can be quite profitable; however each approach will result in an entirely different blog and will require a different marketing campaign strategy as well.

1.) The Enterprise Blog

This blog is an example of an enterprise blog. It is my goal to educate the masses about internet marketing, search engine optimization and page rank strategies as much as it is to make a living from it. If you decide to create an enterprise blog, the key to success lies in delivering a large number of high quality articles, growing a significant readership base and focusing on ways to gain a huge share of web traffic.

An enterprise blog should be based on a broad niche which will give the writer the ability to touch on a ton of different topics that are interrelated.

In my opinion, the enterprise blog is the best route to take. Why not build on something that you have a passion for? Isn’t it better to make money while helping people at the same time? If your blog has quality content and articles that actually help your readers reach a goal, you are already on your way.

Some of the benefits in creating an enterprise blog include high traffic, loyal readership base, direct advertising opportunities and a brand name that requires less paid advertising then a typical blog. People gravitate towards your brand name and content, you’re products will practically sell themselves.

Please keep in mind that this blog will take a lot of time to build and maintain. There are shortcuts but it may take a while to find and implement them. Eventually you may decide to hire a copywriter to take over some of the content creation responsibilities… You may also decide to outsource some of your sales and marketing responsibilities as well.

2.) The Small Niche Blog – Affiliate or Advertising Purpose

This is an example of the enterprise blog with a twist; generally the small niche blog would be focused on generating affiliate or advertising revenue by focusing on a particular product or service. This is a very common route that many bloggers chose to take. The first thing you will want to do is find a niche that is very profitable in regard to affiliate and advertising revenue. Examples of sites like this include: Forex, Credit Cards, Car Loans, Vacations, Expensive Products i.e. Plasma TVs.

The key to success with this type of blog is to target desired keywords and provide content that matches with those keywords. The ultimate goal being that someone will search for the product or service, find your site, read your review and then click on one of your adsense links or affiliate product ads. The best way to do this is to create long tail keywords in your article titles. This will increase the chance you will be found in the search engines for a particular keyword.

These types of blogs are generally easy to set up and get going but may not be very profitable unless you either convert them into enterprise blogs or focus on creating hundreds of similar sites in different niches.

Conclusion

The two methods discussed in this article are just meant to help spark creativity in regard to making money from blogging. There are millions of other ways to make money from blogs and websites but hopefully this article has given you a few ideas to implement or consider in your search for a blogging strategy.

When creating a blog or website there are generally two options in regard to how you will need to set it up.

1.) Use a free hosted service.

An example of this would be sites like Blogger.com or Wordpress.com. Both of these companies offer a free sub-domain where you can host your own blog or website. They also offer turn-key installation so you won’t need to know much about the way websites work etc… You will walk through a simple setup and two minutes later you will be able to set up your first post.

This is a great way for the beginning blogger or website owner to start. It will give you a chance to become more familiar with html and also offer you an easy way to share your thoughts and research with the world.

2.) Purchase a Domain and Hosting

This will require a small investment but I think you will find that the advantages of taking this route vs. option one far outweigh the costs.

This article is dedicated to exploring and listing the advantages of hosting your blog or site on your own domain.

Credibility – Having your own domain will commend a certain amount of credibility in your field. Many people will judge your site by how it looks rather than by the valuable content that it may provide. Having your own domain name will be more aesthetically pleasing. Compare the following two domains :

http://blog-basics-for-beginners.blogspot.com

Both of these sites have quality content but the first site has a URL that is easy to remember. If you had to make a choice between the two, which one would you prefer?

Security – Many people find security in a simple URL. Because of the high number of scams on the internet, generally shorter domain names are more trusted than those that are longer.

Ownership – I can’t stress this point enough. Even though sites like Blogger and WordPress have a commitment to keeping blogs online indefinitely, at the end of the day they are still in control of your sub-domain. They own your sub-domain! It’s hard to place a lot of confidence, time and effort into something that feels uncertain. Owning your own domain will give you a sense of security that many people find priceless.

SEO – Independent domains and sub-domains are treated differently by search engines. Although this fact is hard to prove, sites with their own domains are given priority over sites that are hosted on sub-domains. If you want traffic and your hoping to get this traffic from Google, Yahoo and MSN then having your site on it’s own domain definitely won’t hurt.

Ultimately the primary advantage is control. If you want to build something that is permanent and expandable, wouldn’t you also want to protect your investment?

SEO – 4 Ways to Increase Your Page Rank

In previous articles we have spent significant time discussing page rank and SEO. In regard to page rank there are several things that affect your ranking. It’s possible to make improvements both internally and externally. I have found that the most important factor that affects page rank is backlinks.

The following list includes four methods you can use to obtain backlinks.

1. Reach out and try to negotiate or ask other webmasters in related fields to link to your website. This will be a difficult task but in many cases if approached the right way, site owners are sometimes willing to assist their fellow bloggers in this way.

2. Make sure to submit your site to indexes and directories. It’s very important to register with as many search directories as possible. Search engine directories provide high quality one-way backlinks that are sure to improve your page rank.

3. Register and participate in forums related to your topic of discussion. In most cases you will be able to add your backlink either in your signature or in the body of your post.

As an added bonus you will gain targeted traffic through the forums you participate in.

Keep in mind that these are people that are genuinely interested in your topic. They may become regulars and subscribe to your RSS feeds.

4. Submit your articles to free online publishers. I have discussed this in previous articles as well. There are several sites you can use to submit articles and drop your backlinks. Two of my favorite sites for this purpose include ISnare.com and GoArticles.com.

Lastly, if you use all these methods to increase your SEO and page rank, you will see results very quickly. Sometimes it may take longer than expected due to something called the Google Sandbox. I will explain the sandbox and describe its purpose in future articles so stay tuned!

Page Rank - 10 Links for Search Engine Optimization

In previous articles, I have discussed the importance of page rank and SEO i.e. Search Engine Optimization.

Obviously, SEO is very important to your page rank, the better your site is organized and indexed, the better the chances of you getting a high page rank. If you can't find yourself in the search engines, you don't have much of a chance to get a high ranking do you?

Keep in mind, you will only want to submit your site once to each search engine, if you submit more than once, there is a high probability it will penalize your SEO and page rank.

Make Money Online – How Do I Obtain More Web Traffic?

Most people create their blog or website, start developing content and then sit back and ponder how to get more traffic and attention. The point is, you need web traffic, and we both know it.

The question is how? The following is a discussion about how to increase your web traffic, I will touch on both paid ways to improve traffic as well as ways that are completely free (suffice to say they will take a little time and effort).

Paid Options:

Option 1

If you have a great product or service that you’re promoting and a marketing budget to go with, you could consider running a paid internet marketing campaign. There’s no limit to how many visitors you can get to your site through a Google Adwords campaign, whether you need 1000 or 100000.

You can buy your traffic but it’s going to cost you a bundle. Unfortunately, the visitors that you purchase will stop coming as soon as you stop spending unless you have a very unique and profitable proposition for your traffic.

Option 2

I’ve discussed page rank several times on Blog Basics for Beginners. It all revolves around backlinks and search engine optimization. If you really want to get to the top quickly you could hire an expensive firm to conduct an SEO campaign for you. This unfortunately is incredibly expensive and may not reach your desired objectives.

Conclusion

Both of the paid options will cost you money and may not be as effective as you would like. Don’t be discouraged, I have a recommendation that will save you a lot of time and money. If I could offer you a way to get you website traffic, generate tons of backlinks and gain a search engine ranking above your competitors for free, would you be interested?

At this point you’re thinking, oh great, another shameless sales pitch. Hey hear me out, I’ve been using this trick for several of my blogs and it hasn’t cost me much, in fact its made me a ton in Adsense revenues and affiliate commissions.
